“Leadership is not about titles, positions, or flowcharts. It is about one life influencing another.” ~John C. Maxwell
Coaching is a way of developing people’s skills and abilities. It is used to improve performance and is considered to be a positive and valid approach for helping individuals explore and achieve their goals and ambitions. It can also be used to address issues that are perceived as problematic within an organization. It takes place in the form of a “coaching session” where the coach and client or coachee (person being coached) have a conversation. During the session it is the coach’s job to ask questions that will help the client arrive at his/her own conclusions, solutions and strategies. This is a very powerful way of effecting change in people.
How will coaching take place?
Coaching can take place in person, on the phone or via Skype. The coaching process can last anywhere from 3-12 months. This can vary depending on the client’s needs, goals, and organizational level.
